Revenue Integrity Auditor
Job Description
Under the direction of the director of patient access, conducts detailed audits of charges to ensure that documentation supports billing and is in compliance with documentation, and applicable policies, procedures and regulations. Works with various departments to ensure appropriate charge capture and documentation, including HIM, case management, patient access, and physicians and ancillary charge reconciliation is completed daily. Handles the unbilled report for charge errors and processes corrections as necessary, communicating findings with appropriate departments. Works closely with the HIM department and Shared Service Center to ensure timely billing of patient accounts. Serves as a liaison in the resolution of identified concerns providing education and recommendations.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Associates Degree in Accounting or related field is preferred.
- Additional training/experience in medical terminology, coding systems and chart auditing which provided progressive working knowledge of hospital financial operations, charging, billing, payment and reimbursement procedures and regulations will be highly recommended.
- Should have a working understanding of Medicare, Medicaid and Third Party Payor rules and regulations.
- Three years of working knowledge of healthcare financial processes and regulations; previous experience in financial auditing preferred.
