Certified Pharmacy Tech II
Job Description
This position is responsible for the accurate assistance of pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care to both in-patients and out-patients. Computer entry and processing of patient drug orders; sterile and non-sterile preparations of liquids and solid dosage forms; care and ordering of supplies and equipment; training of trainees; processing of admittance, discharge and transfer of patient drugs; performing miscellaneous related tasks. Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent and exhibit proficiency in patient care and oral communication skills. The candidate must be licensed by the New Mexico Board of Pharmacy within 10 days of starting employment. The candidate must also become certified by the national Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) within 1 year of employment. The candidate will successfully complete an approved sterile products training curriculum within 1 year of starting employment as mandated by the New Mexico Board of Pharmacy.
- Desirable characteristics include a proficiency in written and verbal communications, mathematical calculations, typing of not less than 40 words per minute, computer literate, possess ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with the public; and an ability to perform within time frame without loss of accuracy.
- Must be able to follow directions and to perform work according to department standards when no directions are given. Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress.
- Preferred - Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT), New Mexico Board of Pharmacy licensure, successful completion of an approved Compounded Sterile Products Training course.
